Hope 4 Hector Campaign
Deliverables: Campaign identity, social media graphics
Timeline: October-November 2024, 3 weeks
Materials: Adobe Creative Suite, paper
Process:
In this collaborative project, my group and I were challenged to advocate for an endangered animal by creating a research-based campaign that showcased cultural sensitivity and an understanding of the specific challenges faced by our animal. We chose to highlight the Hector’s Dolphin, one of the smallest and rarest marine dolphins in the world. After extensive research, we decided to create Hope 4 Hector, an annual fundraising event that would raise money for Hector’s dolphin conservation through a virtual auction. My specific role in the group was to create the campaign identity, logo & logotype, and social media graphics for this event.
I began this group project by brainstorming with my group and creating a shared mood board for us to reference throughout the design process. Doing this gave everyone the chance to express their ideas and expectations for the project, and allowed all our voices to be factored into the
final design.
My first responsibility was to create the campaign logo and identity. Considering our project was centered around the Hector’s Dolphin, I wanted to highlight both the animal itself and the ocean environment it called home. After several design rounds and variations, I settled on a simple, streamlined design that combined the silhouette of a dolphin and a wave. The color palette was made primarily of shades of blue, with a vibrant pop of red-orange to provide engaging visual contrast and reference the
bright, playful disposition of Hector’s Dolphins.
