Sketchbook Portfolio
Over the course of ART237: Graphic Design I, we were given sketchbook assignments each week designed to foster creativity and establish a personal creative practice. At the end of the quarter, we were asked to compile various sketches from the quarter into a singular booklet. The result was this
Process:
sketchbook portfolio. This project presented a rare opportunity for complete creative freedom; the page layout, content selection, and stylistic decisions were left entirely up to each student. I focused on finding a fun but elegant way to present my work that highlighted my individual style.
Deliverables: 5.5 x 8.5 in. Booklet
Audience: General
Timeline: December 2024, 1-2 weeks
Due to the nature of this project, the process varied greatly from my usual work. The sketches I used were created at some point between September and December 2024, but I didn’t begin curating content until the project officially began in December. When I began experimenting with potential page layouts, I quickly formulated a clear vision for the final product. After this, it was simply a matter of finding typefaces that complemented my illustrations and organizing each spread compositionally.
